May 16, 2025-- Concussion communication, diabetic debating, psychiatric sparring
Shelter n dropin staff IMO should often be more sensitive than they often are to people who can't always communicate perfectly diplomatically n clearly with them.
Often it is that the clients cannot, not that they refuse. And refusal is rarely out of spite or malice or manipulation or hiding something. Staff need to somehow to stop assuming that!
Often it is medical issues. I witnessed this with a person with a concussion n a diabetic person having a low sugar episode n with a few having psychological or psychiatric issues. And psych issues or even physical ones combined with being provoked combined with staff taking the wrong side and/or antagonizing THEM is not a good combination.
